Body Atlas takes the viewer on the most amazing journey in the Universe- the journey through the human body.

The film techniques used show the interior workings of the body in action. A computer-graphic "see-through" man and woman show the complex geography inside the human body. But these programs are far from purely medical. Each prorgram matches the interior process to the way it affects our everyday lives-from the chemicals that control our biological clock to the growth of a baby in the mother's womb.

We will view the human body not only with new understanding but with new respect.

Muscle & Bone
The human body is the most miraculous machine, containing over 200 moving parts-our bones-operated by more than 600 motors, the muscles. Bone is one of the strongest and lightest materials we know.

Between the bones are self-lubricating and incredibly tough joints. They pivot the bones as they move under the influence of the muscles.

Breath of Life
Most organisms can go without food and water for days, but can't subsist without oxygen for more than a few minutes. See how vital oxygen is absorbed from the air and transferred to the blood in the lungs' huge air/blood interface. Amazing in-the-body footage shows how red blood cells carry oxygen, where the oxygen goes and how it is used.
